HR App Overhaul
Starting this Project
When I started at this company, the product was still windows based and you had to remote desktop into the system. Mobile was considered something they "didn't need". However, they were looking to move to the web.
They were a white-labeled product and had no plans to change that, which left me challenged as to how to build a design system for something that needed to be branded with any color or look and feel.
There were also the challenges of learning about competitors. Most HCM vendors do not give insight into their applications. While you can with some sign up as if you're creating a company and need an HCM application, the majority require talking to a salesperson. This makes exploring the competition a bit difficult.
Information Architecture & Sketches
Before I got started, I spent some time doing user research, including a card sort to determine the information architecture of the application & some app maps to wrap my head around the information in the application. I also did some sketching to start to break down the look and feel.
Below is the final designs I arrived at after all the research and exploration.
