Building Employee Onboarding
I had had several experiences with onboarding as an employee so I was excited to tackle this project and to be able to influence the kind of onboarding I wanted. As a new employee, it's important to know who I need to talk to when I have questions. Who is my IT person? Who is on my team? Where are office supplies? With that in mind, I first checked out what competitors were doing.
While exploring the competition, I also researched what can be done if we allowed our users to scan their ids. What information can we pull? I also explored how different games have onboarded their users. Finally, I noticed that several companies had their onboarding videos on YouTube so why not add a place for an onboarding video within their experience?
I designed several screens that included a welcome video, who your team is, I9 and benefits processing. Before sending this to development, I wanted to test it to make sure it worked well for our users. I created this "quick and dirty" prototype in Invision and set up some usability sessions with outside users. Overall the prototype tested well with some minor changes.
Below are some examples of the final designs.
